As part of advancing this transition, Dr. Rachid is driving innovative solutions in Malaysia through the conversion of waste to renewable energy. This includes pioneering efforts in landfill gas management and purification—capturing gas generated during waste decomposition and transforming it into compressed biomethane gas, one of the cleanest forms of green energy.

His work reflects a strong commitment to advancing sustainable energy systems and enabling practical, scalable solutions for energy transition.

Currently based in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Rachid serves as the Chief Executive Officer of National Gas Company, where he oversees domestic and international operations. Under his leadership, the company continues to grow its regional presence through its subsidiary, NGC Energy, with operations in Malaysia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
